Preparing to Buy a Whole-House Water Filtration System

Using filtered water is a must when it comes to healthy living. Contaminants found in the water supply can present a risk to a person’s health. There are a lot of water filtration companies that deliver solutions to different water issues and offer various water filters that suit household needs.

However, there are some who make mistakes in buying the right water filter based on their needs and factors affecting water supply line.

Tips in choosing the whole-house filtration system that best suits a home:

1. Homeowners should see to it that the whole-house water filtration system that they decide on can get rid of the contaminants present in their water supply. They can identify the right water filtration system for them by having their water tested by a professional. Also, they can consult a country representative to know the contaminants commonly found in their area.

2. If there is a high level of sediments in a home’s water supply, this will require a whole- house sediment filter. The best alternative is multiple water sediment filters that range from 30 microns to 5 microns. Reusable sediment filters can also be used to save on costs over a long period of time.

3. When iron comes in the form of rust it can be removed using a high-quality sediment filter. However, it would require an ion exchange water filter or iron filter to remove dissolved iron. The type of iron found in water supply can be determined by a water analysis report.

4. A granular activated carbon filter can remove many chemical contaminants. Activated carbon can effectively remove 99% of chlorine, the chemical, which is most commonly found in municipal water supplies.

5. Flow rate, which is measured in gallons per minute or GPM, determines the amount of water travelling through the filter within 1 minute. The best whole-house water filters have a minimum flow rate of 7GPM. This lets them maintain constant pressure during the highest usage of water. To get the suitable flow rate, it is critical to buy the size of filtration system that suits the home size, number of household occupants and number of bathrooms.

6. A 1″ port size is best on a whole house filtration system. In case the home has 3/4″ piping, using a 1″ ported system will not cause hurdles when fitted into it. Whole water filter systems that have 1″ ports as well as a 4.5″ x 20″ filter have the capacity to carry water in excess, which means the pressure will never drop.

Got a Whole House Humidifier? You'd Better Have A UV Light System, Too!

Whole house humidifiers and portable room units can be a good way to add back the necessary moisture to the air in your home, preventing allergy & asthma attacks, and other respiratory problems. There is something to be careful of, however: since a whole house humidifier is adding moisture to the air going through the duct work (where mold & bacteria often live), if you don't have a UV light system that's killing those mold spores and bacteria, you're feeding them the moisture they need to multiply and grow, which can flood your house with ten times the airborne mold and bacteria that you had before the humidifier was added.

A lot of home owners don't realize it, but the ducts in our homes, unless brand new or recently cleaned (within 2 months) is usually loaded with dust mites, viruses, pet dander, and other pollutants, as well as live mold spores and bacteria. Those live mold spores and bacteria tend to live pretty well there because there's lots of organic material to feed on, as well as moisture from the cooling coil. And we're talking about the duct work after the filter-between the unit and your floor vents, so no, the A / C filters can't remove anything from this area. And adding more moisture to the ducts feeds these mold spores and bacteria even more, which can cause them to multiply quickly and create some real health hazards in your home.

You can, however, use a whole house humidifier, if you have a UV light air cleaner installed in the duct. Top-rated UV or ultraviolet light air purification systems use laboratory grade 36 watt bulbs that deliver enough light units to destroy over 95% of virtually all strains of bacteria and mold, even algae. So, if you have one of these UV systems installed in your HVAC or central air conditioner system duct, that is going to kill any mold spores and bacteria that float by, and add OH- ions to the air, which also kill any mold and bacteria wherever they are in the duct work, stuck to the inside walls, etc. This way, you can enjoy that added soothing humidity you need, without creating a health hazard for you and your family.

UV light air cleaners are very effective for reducing sinus and respiratory problems, in general, so if you have any conditions like this, you might find some added relief from having both the necessary moisture and NOT having any more mold spores or bacteria floating around to continuously re-infecting you. Duct mounted UV air purifiers are also good for reducing odors, since the OH- ions tend to neutralize those, as well.

So, especially if you're thinking about buying a whole house humidifier or you're using a portable room humidifier now, consider adding a UV light system to your central air conditioner, to make sure you're getting the best allergy or respiratory relief You can get-without feeding bacteria and mold spores (and viruses) that are usually …

Astrology – The Derivative House System – Another Layer of Reading

The field of astrology is huge with so many possibilities. In order to study it in a manageable proportion, we must look at it segment by segment. Once we have two astrological segments under reasonable control we can then merge them to develop a comprehensible narrative. Once we have studied an additional segment, we use the same merging process to enlarge our information while keeping it cohesive. We study segment by segment, adding to our previously storage until we have a whole, usable body of information from which we can draw at any time. This reminds me of the way we learn anything, step-by-step, adding as we go.

In order to individualize that body of astrological information we start with the natal wheel for any birth. We then draw from that information pool at will, weaving together the various segments that are appropriate to that wheel in order to read the life story of that person. In short, we learn the basics of astrology so we can tell the personal story for each individual sky map.

In other articles I have suggested that there are four cornerstones to astrology: planets, signs, houses and aspects. Further, it is my conclusion that the planets are the keystone of the four cornerstones. Each of these four segments should be studied in the early stages of astrology so they may be combined as described to begin the process of a reading. In this article we will look at two of the segments, planets and houses, in a particular combining technique called the derivative house system. This technique is usable for those students of astrology that have completed the beginner stage. In brief …

  • Houses are the division of the 360-degree wheel into 12 compartments. Each compartment contains approximately 1 / 12th of the life experience or issues for any person, so each compartment is chock full of issues. Since the entire house system is constructed with Earth in the center of each wheel, houses are the down-to-earth experience for that wheel and person.
  • Planets represent the various functions of the human, such as the ego and self identity urges, the nesting, family, and emotional urges, the function of communication and learning, the urge to relate, to name a few. Traditionally there are ten bodies: our star, our satellite the Moon, and our eight sibling planets.

Derivative House System To study a single planet deeply, we must go beyond the generic meaning of that planet to see it working in the sign in which it is positioned, the house it occupies, the house it rules, and the aspects in which it is involved. All of that is valuable and is usually as far as any reading goes. The derivative technique can give you another layer of house meaning simply by looking at the 12-fold process of any of the ten planets. How? You simply start with the position of a single planet in the house it occupies and mentally recognize it as that planet's first …
