Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Open Up About Baby Archie’s Huge Milestone (& Show Off Their Living Room Decor)

It sounds like Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s son, Archie, has reached quite a few major milestones!

While having a virtual chat with education activist Malala Yousafzai for International Day of the Girl, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex opened up about spending more quality time with their one-year-old, admitting that they were able to see him walk for the first time.

Prince Harry revealed, “We were both there for his first steps. His first run, his first fall, his first everything.”

Meghan added, “In so many ways we are fortunate to be able to have this time to watch him grow, and in the absence of COVID, we would be traveling and working more. We’d miss a lot of those moments.”

The royal couple did their interview from their living room, which happens to be a popular spot in their Santa Barbara estate. As seen in previous public recordings, the room features a cream sofa with patterned cushions, a colorful plant, and a trio of unique paintings.

The rare update on Archie comes only a few days after Markle opened up about how he’s kept them busy at home. While doing a video call with Evening Standard, she said, “We are doing well. [Archie] is so good. We are very lucky with our little one. He is just so busy, he is all over the place. He keeps us on our toes. We are just so lucky.”

And so is Archie to have such supportive parents!

Devon mother is shocked to discover cattle staring at her through her living room window

A mother was left stunned when she awoke to find a cow staring into her living room window and another 50 trampling through her garden.

Natasha Hooper, 39, was getting ready in her bathroom at her home in Sprayton, Devon, when her son Tyler Findlay, 13, told her, ‘there’s a cow looking through the window.’

At first she thought her son was just imagining things but was left gobsmacked to find the unwelcome guest had been joined by a whole herd.

Footage shows the cattle making themselves at home in the garden and leaving a trail of destruction as they left manure all over the family’s lawn and driveway.

One nosy cow was even pictured ogling them through the living room window while others were queuing outside the property waiting to get in ‘as if it was a nightclub’.

Tyler and brother Mason Findlay, 12, were in fits of giggles watching the giant creatures take over their garden as Mrs Hooper’s husband Christopher tried to herd them out.

The adventurous cattle had escaped the farmer’s field after their morning milking, wandered up the road and surrounded the family’s home.

It took Mrs Hooper and her gardener almost five hours to clear up the cow mess, and she posted snaps of the cheeky cattle grazing to Facebook later that morning.

She said: ‘The kids were having breakfast and my husband was over in the en-suite and I heard Tyler shouting ”Mum there’s a cow looking in the window”.

‘I thought it was another one of his random little comments as usual, but then he started laughing and saying ”they’re all running round the garden”.

‘My husband came flying out of the en-suite, pulling his trousers up as he went, and then I came out of the bathroom and could see them all through the double doors into the garden.

‘The garden was full of cows, jumping around and charging at each other, obviously all stressed, and when they’re stressed their tails go up and the liquid [manure] flies out the back end.

7 Conservatory Decor Ideas To Keep Room Warm And Cosy In Winter

Conservatories, garden rooms and orangeries are often beautiful, light-filled living spaces but they can feel pretty cold and unenjoyable as soon as the temperature plummets.

In order to continue using these rooms during autumn and winter, we’ve compiled some practical conservatory decor ideas full of smart tweaks (which can also be applied to an orangery and garden room) to help create a warm and cosy space.

‘Cold weather needn’t mean these rooms should be abandoned. Instead, we update them to make them extra cosy and comfortable to relax in whatever the weather,’ says Catharina Björkman, Scandi lifestyle expert at Contura.

‘Garden rooms and conservatories are a connection between our indoor living space and the outdoors, which is so beneficial for our wellbeing, but these rooms can get chilly, dark and damp as the weather cools down.’

From using a wood burner to styling your room with decorative rugs, there are plenty of ways you can keep your space cosy throughout the colder months. Get some inspiration with these conservatory decor ideas below…

1. Hang curtains or blinds

As well as adding character, curtains and blinds will help your conservatory or garden room to retain heat in the cooler months.

If you’re not sure which style to go for, Catharina suggests: ‘It’s tempting to choose heavy, dark winter curtains, but for longevity, choose a neutral colour that will work all year round. Soft greys, warm yellows or soothing greys all work well. If possible, choose floor-to-ceiling options to retain the most heat, these can be tied back in summer as well.’

2. Warm lighting

Create a warm and welcoming atmosphere with beautiful lights. Harsh lighting can be abrasive in the darker months, so opt for floor lamps, hanging fairy lights or table lamps instead.

‘You could add coloured lantern style lighting (red or amber look really inviting) combined with tea lights for a warm, cosy glow,’ adds Catharina. ‘Strings of fairy lights hung strategically can enhance a cosy look. Alternatively, look for lights with a dimmer option so you can adjust the light brightness to suit the required cosy factor.’

3. Decorative rugs

Most garden rooms and conservatories have wooden or tiled flooring, so warm rugs are brilliant for adding warmth underfoot. As well as helping to retain room temperature, they can also help to bring the overall room style together.

When it comes to pattern, Catharina explains: ‘A bold print rug, such as decorative Indian style, can look great combined with more laid-back interiors, but play around with shape, colour, texture and size to find the right look for the space. Rug wall hangings can also look stylish and help prevent heat loss through the walls.’

4. Cosy textures

Add an extra of layer of warmth with cosy blankets, cushions and throws — perfect for curling up with.

Catharina adds: ‘Choose warm colours and earthy tones that work well for autumn/winter, such as burnt orange, moss greens and warming terracotta. Go for textures that are soft and woolly for the

Obama steps into The Shade Room to urge ‘roommates’ to vote, says White House ‘working to keep people from voting’

Former President Obama knocked the Trump administration in a video released by The Shade Room this week, accusing the White House of working to “keep people from voting,” particularly those of color.

Obama steps into The Shade Room to urge ‘roommates’ to vote, says White House ‘working to keep people from voting’

Obama made the comments in a short advertisement urging people to vote early in the election that was released by the Shade Room, a Black-owned media company with a large social media following that covers celebrity and entertainment news.

Obama started off the video by addressing the “roommates,” the media company’s nickname for its readers, saying: “As you know the election is coming up and I’ve got just one word for you: vote. Actually I’ve got two: vote early.”

“Right now, from the White House on down, folks are working to keep people from voting, especially communities of color. That’s because there’s a lot at stake in this election. Not just our pandemic response or racial justice, but our democracy itself,” he said.

“So, it’s more important than ever to make your voice heard. We can’t leave anything to chance,” he continued, before going on to urge viewers to visit a website that allows them to check their voter registration status and look up nearby voting locations.

The video marks Obama’s latest show of support for Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden’s campaign in recent months and comes hours before his former vice president is set to face off in his first presidential debate against President Trump later on Tuesday.

In a Twitter video urging supporters to register to vote in the November race on National Voter Registration Day last week, Obama emphasized the stakes of the coming of election, saying: “What’s at stake in this election is much bigger than Joe or the man he’s running to replace.”

“What’s at stake is whether or not our democracy endures,” he continued in the clip, which doesn’t mention Trump by name. “And the folks in power are hoping that you will stay home. They’re hoping you get cynical.”

“They’re trying to convince you that your vote doesn’t matter. It’s how they win. Don’t let them,” he added.
