Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Open Up About Baby Archie’s Huge Milestone (& Show Off Their Living Room Decor)

It sounds like Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s son, Archie, has reached quite a few major milestones!

While having a virtual chat with education activist Malala Yousafzai for International Day of the Girl, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex opened up about spending more quality time with their one-year-old, admitting that they were able to see him walk for the first time.

Prince Harry revealed, “We were both there for his first steps. His first run, his first fall, his first everything.”

Meghan added, “In so many ways we are fortunate to be able to have this time to watch him grow, and in the absence of COVID, we would be traveling and working more. We’d miss a lot of those moments.”

The royal couple did their interview from their living room, which happens to be a popular spot in their Santa Barbara estate. As seen in previous public recordings, the room features a cream sofa with patterned cushions, a colorful plant, and a trio of unique paintings.

The rare update on Archie comes only a few days after Markle opened up about how he’s kept them busy at home. While doing a video call with Evening Standard, she said, “We are doing well. [Archie] is so good. We are very lucky with our little one. He is just so busy, he is all over the place. He keeps us on our toes. We are just so lucky.”

And so is Archie to have such supportive parents!

Harry Potter super-fan Liam Payne has a replica of Hagrid’s hut in his garden | People

Harry Potter super-fan Liam Payne has a replica of Hagrid's hut in his garden

Liam Payne has a replica of Hagrid’s hut from the ‘Harry Potter’ movies in his garden.

The One Direction star is a self-confessed fan of the magical movie franchise – which is based on the series of books by J.K. Rowling – and has even gone as far as to have a special hut built in the back garden of his sprawling home, which has been decorated to look exactly like the hut Hagrid lives in in the movies.

Liam, 27, unveiled his impressive hut during a live broadcast on TikTok with actor Tom Felton, who played Draco Malfoy in the fantasy franchise.

In the broadcast, Tom hinted he had heard rumors of Liam’s hut, but demanded proof, as he didn’t believe Liam was as big a fan of the movies as he claimed.

Tom said: “I didn’t believe it, mate, because you played it very cool.”

But Liam then showed Tom a picture of the hut on his phone, to which the actor exclaimed: “Good Lord!”

The ‘Strip That Down’ singer admitted constructing the replica was a “crazy” move.

And the hut isn’t the only impressive nod to ‘Harry Potter’ that Liam has in his garden either, as in 2015 he confessed to splashing out on the blue flying Ford Anglia that Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint – who played the titular wizard and his best friend Ron Weasley respectively – pilot in the 2002 movie ‘Harry Potter And The Chamber of Secrets’.

Prince Harry Just Gave Fans a Glimpse of His New Santa Barbara Home’s Stunning Decor

Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan recently moved into a new home in Montecito, Santa Barbara, with their son, Archie Mountbatten-Windsor. And throughout their relocating—as well as the pandemic—the Sussexes have continued their charity endeavors both in-person and remotely, regularly filming videos and partaking in calls to support important causes.

This week, Harry appeared in a video supporting the Trailwalker Relay, a 100-kilometer event taking place virtually this year, organized with the Gurkha Welfare Trust and Oxfam. Wearing a smart black shirt and debuting a sleek hairstyle, Harry thanked all involved with the event from his new home.

The video also gave fans a peek into the home’s decor. Featuring lush greenery outside a large window, a tall house plant, and a chic neutral-colored chair, the interior design seems to be as warm and inviting as the message of his video.

Addressing viewers, Harry said, “Almost five years ago, I traveled to Nepal to meet families and see firsthand how the country was rebuilding after the devastating 2015 earthquake. Buildings, temples, homes, and entire villages had been completely demolished. But it was clear that despite everything the Nepalese faced, their spirit and their resilience never weakened. There was a clear sense of care and compassion for each other.

“With COVID-19, the world is being pitted against a new challenge,” the duke continued. “One that is devastating and destructive in its own right, and I am heartened to see that, once again, the Nepalese spirit is unwavering. In Afghanistan, I was honored to serve alongside The Royal Gurkha Rifles. These soldiers showed me what they believe

Harry Benton, Illinois House 97th District Democratic nominee

Candidate profile

Harry Benton

Running for: Representative House District 97

Political party affiliation: Democrat

Political/civic background: Trustee in the Village of Plainfield; Labor Caucus Director, Young Democrats of Illinois; Veteran’s Outreach of Illinois Board of Directors; Political Director, Young Democrats of Will County.

Occupation: Union Ironworker (Local 444)

The Chicago Sun-Times Editorial Board sent nominees for the Illinois House of Representatives a list of questions to find out their views on a range of important issues facing the state of Illinois and their districts. Harry Benton submitted the following responses:

1. The COVID-19 pandemic has hammered the finances of Illinois. The state is staring at a $6.2 billion budget shortfall in this fiscal year. What should be done? Please be specific.

This is an unprecedented moment in not only Illinois, but the nation as a whole. We have done so much as a state to fight against the pandemic, but as we go forward, we have many different challenges that we need to meet head on. Our main fiscal concern needs to be ensuring that we are spending where it is needed and cutting where it is not. Testing, schools, those who lost their jobs, and small businesses need to be at the forefront of our priorities, working to offset the massive losses they have all been dealt to ensure that as we safely reopen everyone is taken care of. The budget needs to be pulled apart word by word to ensure that the priorities of our constituents are being met. While we reorganize our priorities, the federal government needs to step up and support frontline states to ensure that the COVID-19 response is fully covered. President Trump and the Republicans have decided not to do that, choosing partisanship over relief.

2. What grade — “A” to “F” — would you give Gov. J.B. Pritzker for his handling of the coronavirus pandemic? Please explain. What, if anything, should he have done differently?

I think Gov. Pritzker has played the best hand with what he has been dealt. The way that the Republicans in the State and Federal government have decided that partisanship is more important than science makes Gov. Pritzker’s response all the much more impressive. We need to not forget while “grading” performance that we have lost more than 8,000 members of our community and the threat is still there to continue to lose more. I want to prioritize resources for all those affected by the pandemic, whether that be ensuring our front line workers are never worried about when they will get a new mask, or the small business owner in Plainfield that is working so hard to ensure that they are being safe, while still taking care of their workers. Gov. Pritzker has done well in a situation that no one had a blueprint for, and when I am elected, I will ensure that we are following the experts in all fields to make sure that Illinois comes

Harry refunds house refurb bill from Netflix deal

Prince Harry has paid back £2.4 million ($3.2 million) of British taxpayers’ money used to renovate his home at Windsor Castle, using cash from his recent Netflix deal, his spokesman said on Monday.

The Duke of Sussex, as he is formally known, and his wife, American former actress Meghan Markle, retired from royal duties earlier this year in a quest for “financial independence”.

In doing so, the couple said they were giving up their taxpayer-funded income, and promised to reimburse the public money used to renovate their Frogmore House home.

Harry’s spokesman said: “A contribution has been made to the Sovereign Grant by the Duke of Sussex.”

The money “fully covered” the renovation costs of the house, which belongs to his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, and will remain his and the duchess’ UK residence, he added.

Harry and Meghan spend much of their time in her native US.

Britain’s domestic Press Association news agency said the payment was made possible because of a deal the couple signed with Netflix, the streaming giant, announced last week.

No financial terms were disclosed but it was reported to be a multi-million-dollar deal over several years.

They promised to produce content that “informs but also gives hope”, as well as make “inspirational family programming” and “powerful storytelling through a truthful and relatable lens”.

The Sovereign Grant, which amounted to £82 million ($108 million, 91 million euros) in 2018-19, is paid to the queen to cover her and family members’ official duties.

It also goes towards the upkeep of royal palaces.

Frogmore Cottage, a 19th-century Grade II listed building on the sprawling Windsor Castle estate, was transformed from five separate homes into a single property.

The couple moved there from Harry’s late mother Diana, princess of Wales’ former home at Kensington Palace, in west London, before the birth of their son, Archie, in April 2019.

A source told The Mail on Sunday: “Elton put Harry and Meg in touch with Martyn after they moved to LA. They had a meeting and got on really well.

“Martyn was really helpful on where they should be house-hunting and what kind of properties.

“Some of his interiors are outrageous and over the top, but he’s also great at working out exactly what the client wants and delivering it.”

The decorator, from Kent, England, has previously worked with Kylie Jenner, Tommy Hilfiger, Cher, and Sharon Osbourne.

An industry source also told the outlet: “Martyn’s very popular and successful with all the big Hollywood stars.

“His taste is very extravagant and he doesn’t come cheap, but the end result is breathtaking.”

The royal couple swapped Los Angeles for nearby Montecito, Santa Barbara, home to A-listers such as Oprah Winfrey and Ellen DeGeneres.

Harry and Meghan have reportedly taken out a $9.5million mortgage on the nine-bedroom property, which was previously listed for $27million.

Their huge 14,563-square-foot “palatial” pad, known as “The Chateau,” was bought by Sergey Grishin in 2009 for $25million – however, he has struggled to find wealthy buyers able to meet the asking price.

It was eventually listed again in January, for around $17million and sold to the royal couple for around $2.5million under that asking price.

According to real estate agents who spoke with the LA Times, the deal was closed in an “off-market” sale in June.

He is the king of Hollywood interior decor, so British-born Martyn Lawrence Bullard was the obvious person for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to consult about redecorating their new Californian home.

The 53-year-old, originally from Bromley in Kent, was introduced to the couple by his long-term client and friend Sir Elton John, whose LA apartment he decorated in a 1970s Boogie Nights-inspired theme.

A friend told The Mail on Sunday: ‘Elton put Harry and Meg in touch with Martyn after they moved to LA. They had a meeting and got on really well. Martyn was really helpful on where they should be house-hunting and what kind of properties.

Meghan is known to like the Soho House style of shabby-chic with vintage-inspired furniture.

James Corden’s wife Julia and her business partner Vicky Charles – who helped redesign Frogmore Cottage in Windsor – are also in the running to oversee any refurbishment of the couple’s £11 million, nine-bedroom, 17-bathroom home in Santa Barbara.

A spokesman for the Sussexes declined to comment last night.

Will Meghan Markle scoop the Oscar she’s dreamt of since she was seven? Former Suits actress hopes her Netflix deal with land her an Academy Award

By Emily Andrews And Caroline Graham For The Mail On Sunday

The deal struck by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex with Netflix is designed to deliver Meghan’s ultimate dream – an Oscar.

The couple, who live in an £ 11million mansion near Los Angeles, last week announced their plans to conquer Hollywood by producing ‘inspirational’ programmes in a multi-year contact with the US streaming company.

As well as securing millions of pounds to fund their lavish lifestyle, The Mail on Sunday can reveal that former Suits actress Meghan hopes the deal will land her an Academy Award, her childhood dream.

‘An Oscar is all Meg has ever wanted,’ said one long-time friend. ‘She used to practise her acceptance speech in the mirror with a hairbrush when she was a kid of seven. She would also practise her signature in preparation for all the autographs she would give.
