“We’d be sitting at home, contemplating the world we’re living in nowadays,” Smith said. “Everybody needs a little recess, even when you are an adult.”

Adult recess is the latest venture offered by Penetrator Events, a Battle Creek-based event planning, consultation, and “hype-building” company that additionally offers ax throwing leagues through the BTL Axe club.

Jeremy Andrews, who owns Penetrator Events with his wife, Erin Andrews, said the company is offering ax throwing and adult recess as a mobile service. Territorial Brewing Co. at 1600 Avenue A is already hosting Thursday night ax throwing, and welcomed the addition of yard games like CamJam, corn hole and giant versions of Jenga, Connect 4 and beer pong.

BTL Axe is outside on the Territorial Brewing Co. campus each Thursday in the fall from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Drop-in cost is $20 for the evening.

We were planning on opening the beer garden next spring in 2021… As soon as the pandemic hit, ‘What can we do right now to put us in a better footing once this is all over?'”

The brewery recently opened outdoor patio seating that overlooks the beer garden, which includes an 18-hole disc golf course. The former Springbrook Golf Course had been
