It’s that time of year when you can walk into almost any home decorating store and see the reds, oranges, and browns that come to symbolize autumn. Whether you go for traditional fall home décor or a more unique look, this year has an amazing selection.
We went to four local shops and asked them to show us some of their favorite things this year.
318 Art & Garden – Cajun Classic Dutch Oven
318 Art & Garden owner Cassie Stone gets excited about fall because it kicks off the gumbo season, which for the art gallery and gift store that features items made in Louisiana, is the perfect time to feature some of their favorite things.
Among them is the Cajun Classic Dutch Oven made in Mamou for $96. Stone thinks this pairs perfectly with the Mosquito Supper Club cookbook which contains eight gumbo recipes, $34.The Cajun Roux Spoon made in New Iberia, $44, and the artist-designed and Shreveport-printed Gumbo towel also make good fits with the oven.
Also seen are several artworks on their fine art wall that celebrate the hues of the season, like Caroline Youngblood’s print of Herons.
“These fall pieces don’t have to come down after Thanksgiving and can continue to bring you joy all year long!” said Stone.
Akins Nursery and Landscaping – White pumpkins
Akins Nursery and Landscaping owner Jennifer McGimsey says Akins is excited for fall, “We have a variety of fall décor that will bring charm to your home this season.”

Rosewood Home Market – Fall florals
Rosewood Home Market owner Morgan Sewell loves decorating for fall almost as much as she loves the season itself. Her favorite thing is fall florals where you can bring a little of the outside in.
“The inviting tone it sets with warm colors and the anticipation of cooler temperatures makes welcoming in a new season so exciting,” said Sewell.
Their fall stems and foliage start at $6. Sewell says there are endless possibilities, from a wreath on the front door to statement vase on the kitchen table, fall florals are one of the easiest transitional decorating pieces this season.
