Waltz With Bashir, the new Israeli movie by Ari Folman, will be opening in New York next week. In its list of the year’s ten best movies, New York Magazine, noted that the movie’s “fluid boundary between the real and surreal lifts it into the realm of myth” to address the issues at hand. You can read other stellar reviews in the New York Times and the LA Times. From an artistic point of view, the movie is striking, since it uses computer animation to tell its story of Folman revisiting his experience of war to reclaim his lost and repressed memories.
