‘Visions of Israel’ Premieres Tonight

In honor of Israel’s 60th Anniversary, Israeli-American violinist/conductor Itzhak Perlman narrates a fascinating video about the country, which will make its U.S. premiere tonight on Channel 13.
WLIW New York’s acclaimed Visions series makes an aerial pilgrimage to Israel, the world’s only Jewish state – home to approximately 7.2 million and the Holy Land of the three main Abrahamic religions: Judaism, Christianity and Islam. Set to ethnic music with informative narration, stunning high definition aerial footage showcases Israel in all its diverse glory, flying over sites where Jewish rebels gave their lives; where Egyptians, Greeks and Romans built outposts to their empires; and where Jesus Christ performed miracles. Witness the magnificence of the country’s many holy sites, including the Western Wall, the Temple Mount and Church of the Holy Sepulchre, alongside such modern achievements as the ingenious irrigation system that actually helped make a desert bloom.
Visions of Israel premieres nationwide on PBS in June 2008. For more information, visit www.visionsof.org.

Visions of Israel has erased the Arab and Palestinean history as if they never existed. Its upsetting as if those Arabs were never there. All the Palestineans that were driven out of there homes to make room for Jews who have absolutely no right to that land. Don’t the people that live in Haifa, Tel Aviv don’t they feel guilty to know that there home or the land that there home resides over was forcibly taken away from a
Palestinean family that lives in Lebanon, Egypt, Europe Or in the US. How?

They were not kicked out of their home-they sold the land to Jews which had to dry swamps and at the end the Jews built a beautiful country.

It’s nice to see that for a little while, at least, the media can talk about Israel without talking about conflict. Sure, there are some big issues out there, but every country has it’s problems. “Visions” reminds us that we can still celebrate all the great things Israel has managed to do in this short time.

“Visions of Israel” was produced to highlight the distinctive beauty and history of Israel with no attempt to make a political statement. It is produced in the format and style of the many other WLIW New York-produced “Visions” aerial travel programs, including “Visions of New York City,” “Visions of Germany” and “Visions of Puerto Rico.” These programs are designed to allow viewers the opportunity to see a land artistically – providing views most people would not see otherwise. “Visions” programs are not documentaries.
WLIW Productions was not permitted to shoot near or in any of the Palestinian territories, so these areas could not be included in the program. The helicopter pilots were not granted access to these areas and our staff and equipment could not be insured to work in there.

“Israelli” censored my comments to Missesa while her anti-Israeli and anti-Jewish cmments remain.
I guess my commetns about Palestine and Palestinians being a mytn were too controversial for the appeasers and left-wing self-haters here. They might not even be Jews.
Who is actually running this site? A “Pro-Israeli” website, my ***!

Israel was a nation wayyyy back in time, but the trouble was, it was stolen off them and plundered. Now it is a nation again, albeit with reduced boundaries. Its is less than %1 of “so called” arab land.People would do well not to oppose Israel because there is a very serious warning in the bible,…anyone who curses Israel.. he will be cursed by God.

Dear MissEsa,
I understand your sympathy and empathy towards the Arab population of Israel. However, if one would actually bother to learn history, not propaganda, one would realize that it is the Arab world that contributes to the sufferings of the modern day Palestinians, not the state of Israel. When people start valuing their own life more than killing jews, then they will be able to see just how corrupt their leaders are. No country is perfect, but the achievements of the Israelis in the last 60 years, while fighting wars for most of the time, are undeniably astonishing.

Was in Israel in March. How fantastic to revisit it via “Visions of Israel”! Very well done! I long to return to the land of promise.

You are right the Arabs did not come to the aid of their bretheren in Palestine as they should have in 48 and 67, and Egypt is guilty as much as Israel for the senseless slaughter more than a month ago in Gaza.
If one is to support Israel one must support all of it. The demolished city of Gaza…
or the screaming patients in shifa Hospital. May God have mercy…

I wonder what you mean by "support all of it". Palestinians don't recognize that Israel even exists, Arabs that live in Jerusalem never say that they are from Israel, they say that they are from Palestine. You, in your previous post stated that Jews have stolen the land… How do you propose we "support all of it"? The demolished city of Gaza and the hospitals– all of it is going to be rebuilt with a billion dollars from the US. I guess Hamas is happy. Its not about the land, don't you understand?
