Amar’e Stoudemire, whose mother was Jewish, is rediscovering his Hebrew heritage during a trip to Israel. When asked if this trip is indeed fulfilling his dream, he responded with “Ken.” While he was not raised in a traditional Jewish home, his spiritual connection to the Holy Land is encouraging him to honor the sabbath and Jewish holidays. Amar’e signed with the Knicks during this off season, and if the Knicks cross paths with the Sacramento Kings, he might just have a shabbat dinner with Omri Caspi, the NBA’s only Israeli player.
