Touring Wine Country–in Israel

Wine was first made in Israel several thousand years ago. Of course, we can’t really tell how that brew tasted. But we do know that modern-day vintners in the Jerusalem area have discovered some secrets that make a great bottle. This weekend’s Washington Post profiles some of these wineries and the interesting stories behind some of their best creations. And if you’re in the area and want to stop in for a visit, the Post provides a short guide to help you on your way. While there are excellent Israeli wines, wine is actually not an Israeli invention. According to our knowledge the first wine production started in Georgia about 8,000 years ago
