The Hanukkah tradition of serving sufganiyot–or jelly doughnuts–just got a whole lot more fun. In a brilliant move that would send Homer Simpson off the deep end, an Israeli company has decided to launch a line of vodka-infused doughnuts for the holiday. One doughnut filled with jelly and vodka has the alcohol content of about a single beer. Packing a bigger punch than most alcoholic desserts, it’s enough that you shouldn’t be too offended if your friends tell you that you look like you’ve had enough doughnuts.

If you want to celebrate Hanukkah to the fullest this year, don’t forget your ID.

Chanukah, also known as the festival of lights, brings with it an impressive tradition of foods. The common ground for all of these holiday dishes is the generous use of oil.  To make a (very) long story (very) short, this custom is in a memory of the miracle of the oil-jar. According to the tradition, Jewish troops were determined to purify the Temple and to light the Temple’s menorah for eight days. But to their dismay, they found only a single jar of oil that had not been destroyed by the Greeks. They lit the menorah anyway and to their surprise the small amount of oil lasted a full eight days. This is the miracle of the Chanukah oil that is celebrated every year when Jews light a special menorah known as a hanukkiyah for eight days.
