Covering over half of Israel, the Negev can often seem like a rocky, hot desert. But there’s a lot more to the area than meets the eye, as we were reminded in this post from Shankblog. There are now trees dotting the area, as well as stations for some of the most advanced solar power research in Israel. Zenith Solar, for one, has exciting plans to revolutionize the solar power industry. Sounds like the Negev has a lot going for it, after all.

I agree,
with the Arava being one of the two best places for solar in the world radiation wise (the other one in the middle of the Sahara, and a very vibrant start-up climate for renewable energy in Israel; the negev can very much be the next silicon valley of the middle east.
