From Israel Forum’s JBLOG Central:

An introduction to the JIB Awards

In 2004, the founder of the JIB Awards, Aussie Dave, pioneered the program in conjunction with his excellent blog, Israellycool. Aussie Dave intended the JIB Awards to be a friendly competition designed to drive new traffic to Jewish and Israeli Blogs (JIBs).

The JIB Awards phenomenon took on a life of its own and became a cultural feature of the JBlogosphere, marked by beautiful award graphics which began to adorn many JBlogs — both winners and nominees.

In 2005, the Jerusalem Post hosted the awards, while many of the leadership duties were maintained by Israellycool.

In 2006, JBlog Central volunteered to host the JIB Awards. So, here we are.

General Information

Like the JIB Awards, JBlog Central was established to highlight the best of the JBlogosphere, and to drive traffic to Jewish, Israeli, and pro-Israeli blogs.

The JBlogosphere has grown exponentially in the past year, and to acknowledge the diversity of topics, we will issue awards in several categories, in the tradition of the past two JIB Awards. Chief among the award categories will be Pro-Israel Advocacy, because that is one of the ideas expressed by Israellycool, and one with which we agree due to unfortunate trends in the general blogosphere and in the world media.

Important Dates

In judging the winners, we will give each blog’s JBlog Central average rating equal weight with that of the ‘manual’ vote, with some very narrow exceptions, if warranted by special circumstances. The following are some important dates to keep in mind:

Starting November 15th: Comments, questions, and suggestions received
Starting January 8th: Nominations start
January 18th: Nominations end
January 22nd – January 29th: Manual voting takes place
January 29th: JBlog Central Voting tabulated for all nominees, manual voting tabulated for all nominees
January 31st: Winners Announced

OH… MY… G’D, we’ve marked our calendars three times already. If we win this, we’re going to sh*t.
