Ever wondered how bugs can save crops, when will the  tornado stopping machine become available  at Wal-Mart, or how how can you beat the house next time you sit at a black jack table?

These questions and more will be just a small part of the questions up for discussion in the first ever Israeli TED Conference. The conference, which will open on Monday in Tel-Aviv, is the first attempt to bring the world renowned discussion to Israel, to showcase our best and brightest minds.

The event will reflect the dichotomies that make Israel such a unique place: ancient-modern, religious-secular, rich-poor, east-west, devout-irreverent, tradition-innovation. According to the organizers of TEDx Tel-Aviv it is this diversity that serves as a catalyst for cutting edge technology, world-class research, great works of art and ingenious social entrepreneurship.

While the conference is sure to sell out, you can log in and listen to all the sessions through this link or by downloading the TEDx Tel-Aviv application to your iPhone. To take part in the conversation you can also follow @TEDxTelAviv on twitter.
