We were struck by a piece in today’s Hartford Courant (scroll down for the story) about famed architect Richard Meier’s planned tower in Tel Aviv. It’s one of the first buildings in Israel designed by such a prominent architect and designer–and it hopes to be a bit environmentally conscious, too. We poked around a bit to find out more about this intriguing project and found this interview on the International Herald Tribune blogs, in which Meier discusses what drew him to Tel Aviv and the challenges of the project. It also has a few projections of the finished structure, set for completion in 2012.
