Peanuts, Cracker Jacks and Latkes?

Israelis will soon be able to enjoy that uniquely American (Japanese) past time of an afternoon at the ball field. It’s just what Israel needs- a perfect excuse to wallow away an afternoon eating kosher hotdogs while rooting for your favorite Hebrew sluggers in pajamas. Because everyone loves Hebrew nationals, especially while watching a sport you don’t understand.
As brought to you by israelinsider:
The newly formed Israel Baseball League held tryouts in Miami to scout talent for the Holy Land’s first baseball team.
Among the teams-to-be are the Bet Shemesh Blue Sox, Netanya Tigers, Petach Tikva Pioneers, Jerusalem/Gezer Lions, Haifa/Nahariya Stingrays and Tel Aviv Lightning.
The league will open its first season early this summer.
Although Israeli sports fans might not know the difference between a double play, a double hit, and a double header, the league’s organizers are confident that the sport could become Israel’s national pastime too.
According to Martin Berger, the league’s director of operations, “This is what Israelis need. Israelis need family time, time away from the stress.”

I think it is really exciting. Good news for Israel. Good news for tourism. Good news for the trend toward Worldwide baseball. If baseball is the American pastime, what better place for there to be baseball than the place with many American tourists, americans living there. Loving baseball gets you in a happy groove unlike most anything else. Those who know it love it.

We went to an Israel Baseball League game and it was the bbest thing we did on the whole trip from the perspective of my two teenagers.
I also saw little kids chasing foul balls and having a wonderful time.
I plan to recommend this activity to all my friends who are planning trips to Israel. It was not expensive ( 10 a ticket) and enjoyable in every way.

I live in New Orleans and would like to know if there is any IBL merchandise for sale, like t-shirts.
