LA Mission Raises Flag

In advance of the new year, nearly 8,000 Angelenos showed up outside the local Israeli Consulate on Sunday to watch the blue-and-white flag being raised for the first time in front of the Israeli Consulate. The event was a rousing tribute to the relationship between Israel and Los Angeles and gave everyone a measure of pride in Israel and everything she stands for. The crowd included Israelis, Americans, Persians, members of the Christian community, and representatives of the city and state. Israeli soldiers helped in the flag raising, while the American flag was hoisted by a serviceman just returned from Iraq. The moving ceremony was capped by spontaneous dancing in the streets to celebrate the new flag. Check out the LA Times for the full scoop.
