Jacob Frenkel, who served as governor of the Bank of Israel from 1991-2000, has been tapped to be the new chairman of international business for J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. During his two terms in Israel, he is widely credited with opening Israel’s financial markets while reducing inflation.

Mr. Frenkel is a graduate of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and was awarded the Israel Prize for Economics in 2002. At J.P. Morgan, Mr. Frenkel will be bringing his vast amount of experience from organizations and agencies ranging from AIG and Merrill Lynch to the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
