Israel’s Newest Star

One of Israel’s hottest TV shows is A Star is Born (Kochav Nolad in Hebrew), which is the local search for singing talent (along the lines of American Idol). Last week marked the end of Season 6, with Israel Bar-On crowned the winner. According to Ynet, 30,000 people watched the show live and 750,000 viewers (that’s 10% of Israel’s population!) voted for their favorite artist. Previous winners on the show have gone on to musical success, so this could be the beginning of a new career.

As you’ve noted (and as we didn’t really want to let on), that’s not Israel Bar-On in the picture. In our efforts to adhere to copyright rules, we don’t use pictures that we don’t have the rights to publish. Should a rights-free picture appear (let us know if you see one!), we will be more than happy to change the illustration of this post.
In the meantime, the article featured in the post and in the comment above (it’s the same one) has a real picture of Israel’s newest star.
