Who knew!? Israel has natural gas reserves!
A few weeks ago, an Israeli-American consortium announced it had found a huge natural gas field due west of Haifa. This find has huge implications for the country’s ability to provide its energy needs–it may be able to meet most or all of those needs for up to two decades! (Of course, we shouldn’t forget our dedication to green energy, either.) As BusinessWeek notes, maybe Moses really did get the right directions to the promised land; it just took us a really long time to figure that out!
