Israeli minister offers Paula Abdul trip to Israel, and husband while she is at it.

Abdul ready for a nice Jewish ’shidduch’ as suggested by Tourist Minister Isaac Herzog who appeared with her on American Idol

The well known singer and dancer Paula Abdul, who recently revealed that she is Jewish, will be coming to Israel during the Hanukkah festival as the guest of Tourist Minister Isaac Herzog. Abdul’s host also offered to make a “shidduch” for her during her visit.

“My dream is to visit Israel, go to the Dead Sea, to tour the Western Wall and other holy sites,” Abdul told Herzog on Wednesday. Herzog is currently touring the West Coast on a tour aimed at promoting tourism to Israel. During the tour he also met with California’s governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger.

The meeting between Abdul and Herzog was very emotional and took place in the building where American Idol is filmed. Abdul, who is on the panel of judges, started the meeting with a personal confession: “Not many people know, but both my parents are Jewish, I am very excited about telling you this,” she said.

A dream come true

Herzog responded by asking her how she got the name Abdul: “My father is a Syrian Jew whose family immigrated to Brazil. My mother is Canadian with Jewish roots. My dream is to come to Israel for a real holiday,” Abdul replied.

Herzog responded by inviting her to come to Israel during the Hanukah festival.

Sources at the consular office in Los Angeles reported that at this point Abdul was close to tears. She hugged Herzog and said: “I will come; you have helped make a dream come true.”

Abdul reportedly invited Herzog to join her in the audition hall, and that’s how Herzog found himself on the stage of American Idol facing a large crowd.

“Do you know why I am so excited? Because Israel’s Tourist Minister is here and he made my dream to visit Israel come true,” she told the audience who applauded loudly.

Taking advantage of the opportunity, Herzog suggested finding a “nice Jewish match for Abdul.”
