Israeli Cinema to be Showcased in New York this October!
Israeli films and filmmakers have been gaining an enormous amount of recognition all over the world lately, including the recent triumph of “Lebanon” at the prestigious Venice Film Festival.
With the growth in filmmaking institutions (there are currently 13 film schools in Israel!), a government increase in funding for the film industry, and the significant development of commercial TV, the quality of Israeli cinema is sensed in both the quantity and quality of films being produced.
This coming October, New Yorkers will get the opportunity to watch some of the great recent Israeli films on the big screen:
“Lebanon” by Samuel Maoz will be screened at The New York Film Festival (Oct. 1-2).
The Hamptons Film Festival (Oct. 8-12) is featuring a special program on Tel Aviv.
The Woodstock Film Festival is screening a U.S. premiere of “Eyes Wide Open” by filmmaker Haim Tabakman, who will attend the festival.
