In Myanmar, Israelis Give Vision of a Better Future
Sometimes, in countries so greatly ridden by poverty and despair, their plight becomes numbers. What rank are they in the development index? How many perished in the cyclone? Rather than being bogged down by the impossible, let’s not doubt the extraordinary things ordinary people can do to make a difference.
In Myanmar, good news has been especially hard to come by. One of the nonprofit organizations doing great work for the Burmese people is Eye from Zion. An Israeli humanitarian organization founded by businessman Nati Marcus, its goal is to provide medical assistance to the world’s needy.
Working with a number of organizations, including the Foreign Ministry’s National Agency for International Cooperation, Eye from Zion dispatched an Israeli medical team of ophthalmologists to Myanmar. In marathon surgical sessions over the last two weeks, they have given back the gift of sight, and more, to a wonderful people.
For the full story, written in the words of Eye from Zion’s Dr. Nirit Bourla and Dr. Nadav Belfair, check out Ynetnews.
