If Israel Builds it, the Yankees Will Come

Israel is about to welcome America’s most iconic pastime: baseball. According to the blog Transracial, the Israel Association of Baseball has just announced a two-year contract with a group of American businessmen, including a New York Yankees owner, to get the official league up and running.
The financiers are currently in Israel setting up logistics, and hope to pitch their first inning either next year or in 2011. Although former attempts to launch the sport in Israel were unsuccessful, transracial writes: “Perhaps with literal Yankees know-how behind it, this second attempt will be a grand slam.”
