Hermon Ski Resort Considers a Summer Facelift

Though winter in Israel lasts only a couple of weeks–which essentially mark the end and beginning of summer–for a short time, skiers in Israel can dust off their ski goggles and hit the slopes of Israel’s only ski resort, Mt. Hermon.
However, climate changes in recent years have made ski seasons even shorter. To cope, the management of the Hermon ski site is considering opening the site year round. This means when the snow caps melt, the ski lift will transform to a bike lift offering adventurous bikers one of Israel’s sharpest drops in altitude with world-class terrain.
Located on the border between Israel and Syria, the Hermon is the tallest mountain in Israel, towering 2,224 meters (7296 Feet) on the Israeli side. The ski site offers a selection of slopes that serve as the closest alternative to the Swiss Alps.
These changes will now offer cyclists the opportunity to ride from the highest point in Israel to the lowest point on Earth–the Dead Sea–in less than 24 hours.

I love to ski but I’ve never been somewhere exotic like this. It would be really interesting to ski Mt. Hermon.
