Legendary CBS Anchor Walter Cronkite Dies at 92

The legendary news anchor who became known as “the most trusted man in America” passed away in New York on Friday, after battling a long illness. His career spanned almost the entire 20th century, but one of his most remarkable achievements was the time Cronkite helped trigger a peace deal between Israel and Egypt.
In 1977, Cronkite interview then-Egyptian President Anwar Sadat about his intent on going to Israel–which, at the time, was considered a nonstarter because of the lack of treaty between the two countries. Sadat answered a surprising “yes”, and soon after, traveled to Jerusalem on a trip that eventually led to the Camp David Accords, which included a peace deal between Israel and Egypt.
