Five years after the tragic loss of the Space Shuttle Columbia and the seven astronauts aboard, pages from a diary belonging to Ilan Ramon, Israel’s first astronaut, will go on display at the Israel Museum in Jerusalem. It is amazing that the diary has made it this far. According to the Associated Press report, the papers survived a fall of 37 miles to earth and the searing heat and freezing temperatures of the atmosphere. Pages from the diary will be shown with other historic documents celebrating Israel at 60; Ramon embarked on his trip as a representative of the Israeli people and this exhibit should raise a large amount of interest.
