Clooney Is Coming!
It’s true; he is just as hot in person as on the big screen. And now, we all might get a glance of The Sexiest Person of the Year shopping on Shenkin, or lounging at the TA Port. We can confirm that Mr. George Clooney spoke to our very own Vice Premier, the elder statesmen himself, Shimon Peres, when the two bumped into each other for separate tapings of the Charlie Rose Show last week. Apparently, Peres invited Clooney for a visit to Israel, and the dapper, Oscar winning, A-lister enthusiastically accepted. I say apparently, because there were so many Peres staffers clamoring for photos and handshakes that it was a bit hard to hear. Peres graced us here in NY and the tri-state last week to visit several top ranked universities and make the case for Israel. It’s always a pleasure working with Peres when he’s in town, especially when he gets us within inches of that smile.
Here’s the official story from YnetNews:
George Clooney: I want to visit Israel
Vice Premier Peres meets with American actor in New York, invites him to visit Holy Land. Film star accepts invitation
By: Itamar Eichner
Vice Premier Shimon Peres met over the weekend with actor George Clooney in New York and invited him to visit Israel . Clooney replied that he would be happy to visit the Holy Land and promised to look into the possibility of combining the visit with his upcoming trip to Egypt.
The meeting between the two was held in the public television studios in New York in the presence of Consul General of Israel in New York Arye Mekel, Consul for Media and Public Affairs David Saranga and Yonah Bar-Tal, deputy director-general of Peres’ office.
Peres and Clooney met in the studio, and Peres took advantage of the opportunity to invite the actor to Israel. Clooney replied that he had held a short visit to Tel Aviv in the past, but that he definitely wanted to visit Israel.
During the meeting, an interesting conversation developed between Clooney and Consul General Mekel, who told the film star that he knew him since he was a little boy in Cincinnati in the 1970s.
I was a Jewish Agency envoy there and I used to be interviewed by your father, who was an anchor on the local television,” Mekel said. “Sometimes I saw a small boy, and your father told me that he had brought you to work.”
Clooney was moved and asked Mekel where his office was located.
At the Jewish community center, Mekel answered, and Clooney recalled with a smile, “I used to go there a lot because it had the best pool in town.”

I think, as Jews, we worship the wrong stars. If you don’t understand now, you will after 120.
I saw Paul Simon in Israel, 29 years ago. Why a nice Jewish boy from Queens (Kew Gardens Hills) had to bring gospel singers to ruin “Bridge Over Troubled Waters” is beyond me. Perhaps he didn’t realize that most but not all of theaudience would be English speaking Olim, studenst etc. He still sound better with his once and future partner, another Jewish boy from Queens (Forest Hills), Art Garfunkel.

‘George is pro-Palestinian. And he is also urging Barack to withdraw unconditionally from Iraq if he wins.

Hi. Those people don’t understand anything about Israel. It is all business for them. Simon is very liberal and most all of American stars and polit corrected.
To be Patriotiotic it is mean to them to be RAssist …That’s the American way
