In the past few weeks we’ve tried to offer you a FREE taste of Israeli culture. Since it is the season for giving, why stop.
This weekend we’re giving you a chance to receive a pair of tickets to see Beit Habubot in concert. In order to win one of 5 pairs all you have to do is answer the question below.
This Israeli band, started off by two childhood friends, Itay Schiff and Amir Atias, exemplifies the power of open source music initiatives.
The two recorded their jam sessions while on a trip in South America. What started as a demo tape for their personal use, was slowly distributed through the Israeli network of backpackers. And so, by word of mouth, the songs passed from one to the other and crossed borders to reach as far as Japan and Australia. The band soon had a growing group of fans and without any media coverage began to perform in front of hundreds.
While their makeshift album was famous for that “damp hotel room sound” and the Indy feel it had, the minidisc era on which it was taped is now long gone. Today the band offers sophisticated Israeli rock which combines an array of musical styles: ethnic, reggae, country, Scottish and funk.
Beit Habubot will preform at the Highline Ballroom in NY, Saturday 12/5 at 10 PM
